Angel Fernandez is a 2016 SS/RHP with a 5-5 152 lb. frame from Lubbock, TX who attends Estacado HS. Athletic, broad shouldered frame with some present strength throughout build and room to fill out with more. Ran a 7.57 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, fields out front, quick transfer to a lower slot release with short arm action, can throw accurately from multiple slots, works behind the ball and shows consistent actions. Also pitched, worked from a low three-quarter arm slot at release and stays short in the back. Fastball topped at 74 mph, generates life from slot and flashed a curveball at 64 mph. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and high hand set and back elbow. Short path to the ball and creates some extension out front, line drive swing plane, stays behind the ball well and creates steady line drive contact to all fields. Line drive swing plane, occasionally gets to front side early but shows a contact approach in box. Good student.
