2015 Florida Top Prospect Showcase
Angel Vargas is a 2016 SS/2B with a 5-10 165 lb. frame from Delray Beach, FL who attends Elev8 Sports Institute. Large frame, broad shoulders, mature sturdy build with strength. Solid athlete, ran a 7.28 60-yard dash. Good infield actions, can be late getting glove down, but shows nice, soft hands and owns a quick transfer and release. Good body control, instincts, and arm strength, measured up to 86 mph in defensive drills. Right handed hitter, tight hand set with deep load. Maintains solid balance throughout mechanics, at times frontside can open early. When lower half is on time, shows some feel for using the barrel, mostly to middle of the field with approach geared for contact. Very good student.
