Tyler Strong is a 2016 C/IF/OF with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Bradenton, FL who attends Cardinal Mooney HS. Medium-large frame with strong build throughout body. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.33 seconds. Hits from wide stance with high back elbow set, cocks hands deep into load, shows pretty good strength in swing with ability to drive the ball. Deep double into gap during game action. Shows some feel for the barrel with ability to go the opposite way when hitting, mostly line drive swing plane but does have some loft. Comes in on the ball well in the IF and fields cleanly, shows good hand actions at the ball both forehand and backhand. Shows strong arm across, with IF velocity up to 84 MPH. Caught as well, sets up behind the plate a bit high but not disruptive, receives cleanly and shows solid fundamental footwork into release, popping as low as 2.06 seconds and throwing 76 MPH down to 2nd base. Good student.
