Matthew Silverstein is a 2017 LHP with a 6-2 165 lb. frame from Shelton, CT who attends Shelton High School. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to add additional strength. Ran a 5.52 40-yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher, hip turn at top of delivery and stays tall on back side with leg raise up past belt. Works to a three-quarters arm slot and creates angle from cross-body release, fastball topped out at 75 mph and shows ability to get to glove side with occasional running life, comes out of hand easily. Curveball showed 1-7 shape when on top at 59 mph, developing feel for changeup but shows short fading life when down in the zone. Graded out higher with the bat in this look, righthanded bat, able to generate nice bat speed with whip to barrel, creates extension and hits the ball out front. High hand set in the box with quick hands and line drive swing plane, has power potential. Fields the ball cleanly out front from both the outfield and first base showing a long and fluid arm action with short steps to the ball and projectable arm strength.
