Muldowney is a 2005 MIF/OF from West Chester, PA with a 5'11"/165 pound body and is one of the top players in the northeast. He hits from a controlled, solid base with short, quick hands. He has strong hands and generates a lot of bat speed. He showed serious power in batting practice with 2 HR's and 2 shots off the wall. He has good footwork and very good range. He has quick hands and a quick release. He topped out with a strong 83 mph across the infield. He showed good athleticism during the entire event and he ran a 6.94 in the 60. He's an outstanding talent and plays the game hard. Brian is a very good student.

Brian Muldowney is a lean athletic 5'11/165 MIF from West Chester, PA. It’s impossible not to like Muldowney. He makes all the plays in the infield, including the hard ones, and has an aggressive line drive swing that produces consistent hard contact against good pitching. His tools play and he has great makeup. He runs very well and has a strong quick arm. He really turns the DP good at 2B. He shows quick hands and quick feet with nice fluid actions. He feeds off of pitches down in the strike zone and the ball jumps off his bat in a hurry. He plays hard and does everything well. He is a highest level college prospect who should create some serious scouting interest. Brian is a good student. He was invited and attended the PG AFLAC Showcase in Baltimore.

Muldowney is a young "05" Middle infielder/ pitcher. He is the brother of Billy Muldowney who was a top prospect last year and now is at Duke. At 5'11/160 he is leaner than Billy and does some things even better than Billy. He runs very well and should end up being at least MLB average before he's done. He has the Muldowney arm strength, but has a ways to go to reach Billy's 92 fastball. He has nice SS actions, quick hands, good feet and of course a very strong arm. This kid can hit, good looking swing with good bat speed. The wood gives a loud crack as the ball jumps off in a hurry. He put on a show in BP. Brian is a very good player and prospect to watch. Of course he can pitch too. He is a good student as well.

The comparisons between Brian and his older brother Billy, now a freshman at Duke, will be inevitable. While not exactly the same type of athlete, they are similar enough physically and as regards makeup (outstanding for both young men) to make comparisons inevitable. While Billy had a great arm (he’ll end up on the mound, in our opinion), a good bat and fair speed, Brian has better speed, good but developing bat potential but not quite the arm as his brother. Brian’s arm at third base projects out to a 50/60 type big league arm, so he will not be limited defensively by arm strength. But Billy throws 92/93 mph off the hill. Brian’s 6.9 speed, arm strength and live body leave him open to projection at many positions depending on how he develops physically. He’s shown us good bat speed at a couple of events this summer, plus an advanced ability to recognize pitches and use the entire field to hit. In fact we think he will end up being a plus hitter in the end. Brian is a good student as well.
