Jeramy Matos is a 2008 3B/1B with a 6'3'', 225 lb. frame from Lake Worth, FL who attends American Heritage HS. Matos has a big, strong physical build that he's going to have to work hard to keep quick and flexible. Matos moves round third base pretty well for a big guy right now and shows soft hands, a quick release and very good on line carry on his throws. He ran the 60 in 7.42 and threw 84 mph across the infield. At the plate, Matos still shows the raw power and bat speed that make him a top prospect but he seemed out of sync in Cincinnati. He's now starting his swing with his hands well extended in back of him and this creates length to his swing and some stiffness. To us it looks like a matter of being overcoached from his previous approach, which was much more compact and quick. Matos has huge power in his swing and strong and quick hands to the ball. He has the ability to stay balanced during his swing and the ball jumps off his bat. Matos needs to get back to his old quick, attacking style of hitting, as it fits his swing tools well. Matos is a good student.

Jeramy Matos is a 2008 3B/RHP with a 6'2'', 195 lb. frame from Lake Worth FL, who attends Summit Christian HS. He is seriously strong for his age, with a thick Albert Pujols type of upper body. Matos retains very good quickness for his size and age. He ran the 60 in 7.17 but more importantly showed good quickness and balance defensively at third base, making a number of nice plays during the games. His arm strength is a big plus defensively as well and unless he slows down, it looks like Matos has the tools to be a very good defensive third baseman down the road. Offensively, Matos hits from a still no trigger approach and generates very good bat speed. The ball jumps off his bat hard. He has a line drive swing plane right now and gap to gap power. He squares up on the ball consistently and has the ability to pull the ball. Developing better rhythm at the plate could help unleash his power potential in the future. Matos is a good looking young prospect with an intimidating presence on the field. He is also an outstanding student.

Jeramy Matos is a 2008 RHP/3B from Summit Christian HS in Lake Worth, FL, with a 6'2'', 195 lb. frame. He is listed as a primary pitcher but we liked him much better as a hitting prospect and his overall PG grade reflects his hitting skills. Matos is very strong and mature for his age, with good proportions and a big frame that can add more strength. On the mound, Matos has a long arm action and a closed, cross body release point from a low effort delivery. He'll vary his release points and throws a variety of different off speed pitches. His fastball topped out at 79 mph with good sinking action and he threw a curveball, slider, change up and knuckleball at different times. He has a finesse type approach on the mound. At the plate, Matos uses his above average strength aggressively. He has plus bat speed and really attacks the ball aggressively. The ball explodes off his bat and projects top level power in the future. Matos has very nice balance and rhythm into the ball and showed the ability to wait back and hit the ball deep in the zone with leverage at contact. If he takes hitting seriously and keeps his body strong, Matos could develop into a premium hitter over the next few years given his present skills. Matos played some at third base at the showcase and showed good balance in the field with some arm strength and raw fielding actions. He is a 7.42 runner and projects to a corner position on defense. He is a top level follow as a hitter. Matos is also an excellent student.
