2006 South Underclass Showcase
Casey Jackson is a 2008 C/1B with a 5'11'', 200 lb. frame from Bridge City, TX, who attends Bridge City HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team at this event. Jackson has a presently strong body with strong legs. Defensively he has some position flexibility between catcher and first base. Behind the plate he moves his feet well blocking balls in the dirt well from side to side. He shows arm strength at times, with a best pop time of 2.02. At first base he has nice footwork with nice hands and moves well around the first base bag. Jackson's best tool however is his bat. He is a left handed power hitting catcher. He has plus bat speed through the zone and gets good leverage in his swing at the point of contact. The leverage and strength in his swing cause the ball to jump of his bat showing very good raw power. He takes an aggressive swing and he hit several balls hard during the showcase games including a double over the center fielder's head. He projects as a middle of the order bat at the next level.
