J Daniel Pulfer is a 2008 MIF with a 5'8'', 160 lb. frame from Huntington Beach CA, who attends Marina HS. Named a Top Prospect at this event. Pulfer is a talented and hard nosed player. He is built and programmed for success at the college level and likely beyond that in the long term. He runs, he hits, he plays top notch defense, has feel for the game, and he is a gamer. Pulfer has a strong, compact body type that is well-built for the middle of the diamond. He can handle contact around the bag and still make plays. Offensively he possesses a short, quick swing and drives through contact well, resulting in hard line drives all over the field. He recognizes pitches well out of the pitchers hand and also has a little pop. Pulfer would be capable at either the leadoff spot, two-hole and possibly someday in the three-hole. Defensively he flows to and through the ball real well. He is a bit of a high effort thrower, but he makes plays, to his right, to his left, and coming in. Pulfer's arm strength is suited to 2nd base but he plays shortstop well, with a quick release when needed. He also appears to also have a baseball clock in his head. He really stood out when turning the double play from the 2nd base position. Pulfer runs the bases well and has usable baseball speed. He is a strong student and a talented ballplayer.

J. Daniel Pulfer is a 2008 right hand hitting middle infielder from Marina HS, residing in Huntington Beach, CA. Named a Top Prospect at this event. He has a 5'8" 160 lb. frame and compact, strong build that is well-suited for the middle of the diamond. Pulfer is a physically talented player that also brings a hard nosed, gamer type approach to the game. Offensively he is a competitive, spray line drive hitter with a quick trigger and good bat speed. He has a knack for making good barrel contact his short swing can also produce some extra base hits. On the bases his displays good baserunning instincts and runs well. Pulfer could be characterized as a lead-off/two-hole type that is both pesky and has some pop. Defensively he is a very strong player. Pulfer displayed plus hands and good body control, with a quick first step. He has a quick release and a strong, quick arm that plays well from the left side. His angles and jumps are good as are his instincts. Around the bag he hangs in well on the double play and can handle contacdt. Pulfer plays with a high revving motor in the field and looks to genuinely enjoy making an impact defensively. He is a D1 prospect that is going to get heavy interest from most top programs in the West.
