Corey Turner is a 2008 LHP/OF with a 5'11'', 160 lb. frame from Tioga, FL who attends Buchholz. Lean build, wiry strength. Deliberate delivery, quick arm, FB jumps on hitters, 83-85 mph velo, CB very tight at times, shows good command, more in there with developed strength.. Corey Turner is a 2008 OF/P with a 5'11'', 150 lb. frame from Tioga FL, who attends Buchholz HS. He has a slender, young build and some wiry strength. Turner was named to the showcase Top Prospect Team. It's a close call to whether Turner is a better pitching or position prospect based on this look. He's a 7.12 runner who has very smooth outfield actions and advanced fundamentals to go with a strong throwing arm. He's a left handed hitter with an open approach and a smooth, easy swing. He's looking for the inside half and has quick hands and some bat speed. Turner's approach is polished and he looks like a high average hitter who spray's line drives to all fields and will develop some pop as he gets stronger. On the mound, Turner has the same type of easy, fundamentally sound delivery as he brings to the rest of his game. His fastball topped out at 85 mph and had good running action. His best pitch was a 69 mph curveball that had sharp 12/6 break to it. Turner's change up was also a quality pitch. Turner showed very good pitchability and he should easily add velocity to his pitches. Overall, Turner is a very polished baseball player with easy actions who is just waiting to start getting strong and figure out what he does the best. Follow him closely!
