Kyle Portnoy is a 2007 1B/3B with a 6'1'', 185 lb. frame from Lincolnwood IL, who attends Niles West HS. He has a solid athletic build on a long frame. Portnoy has good lateral movement on defense and good hands receiving the ball. His straight ahead speed and arm strength limit him to first base. Portnoy hits from a open to closed approach and has good bat speed with very good extension through the ball. His movement into pitches means that his best power right now is to right centerfield and if he stayed square to the ball or open, he could develop more pull power. Portnoy does a good job of keeping his weight back and staying behind the ball and he has some lift in his swing. He projects well has a hitter as he gets stronger. Portnoy is a very good student.
