He has arm strength with solid developing actions defensively. At the plate, Kraus starts with an open stance with a high back elbow. He has bat speed and gets the barrell to the baseball. Kraus showed good pop to the opposite field this spring.

Jared Kraus is a 2009 2B/P/UT with a 6'2'', 165 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, IA who attends Xavier HS. He has a slender build with a young look to him and plenty of projectability. Kraus played both infield and outfield at the showcase and looks like he can play both positions well. He has smooth hands in the infield and athletic actions. Kraus is listed as a second baseman, probably the position he plays as a young high school player, but he looks like a future third baseman when he fills out. In the outfield, Kraus has good speed at 7.08 and a loose, accurate arm with some arm strength. Offensively, Kraus hits from an open stance with high hands in his set up and good overall balance. He shows nice bat speed and pulled some balls hard. He projects to keep getting better. Kraus has pitched at past events and shown prospect type tools on the mound but didn't pitch at this event. He's a very young looking athlete who should continue to get better across the board. Follow closely.

Jared Kraus is a 2009 2B/P with a 6'2', 165 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who attends Xavier High School. Kraus is a young player with a lean and athletic build with projectability. He is a solid runner with a 7.09 sixty that will improve as he adds strength. Defensively he is advanced for his age showing easy actions. He has soft hands with nice footwork and he makes things look easy for a 2009 prospect. He also has good body control on slow rollers and plays to either side. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a straight away stance that he opens up on his stride. Kraus takes an aggressive swing showing bat speed through the hitting zone. He makes solid line drive contact to all fields, and his hands work well giving him a good overall swing. Kraus is also a patient hitter that should allow him to hit for a good average. On the mound he shows arm strength with a fastball that topped out at 82 mph. He also mixes in a sharp slider at 76 mph, and a 70 mph change-up with split action. He is a two-way prospect that is a must follow at this point.
