Garrison Lassiter is a 2008 SS/3B/OF with a 6'2'', 187 lb. frame from High Point, NC who attends West Forsyth HS. He has a long, rangy build for a middle infielder and projectable strength. Lassiter is a 6.82 runner and threw 82 mph in infield drills. Lassiter is an "actions" defender, he doesn't have a big throwing arm or incredible quickness but plays under control, plays easy and plays quick, especially with his hands. He has a good feel for the defensive part of the game and makes plays. Offensively, Lassiter has high ceiling potential for a middle infielder. He has very fast, loose hands with the bat. Despite a leg lift trigger and a big hand hitch to start his swing, Lassiter dominates high velocity pitching that he you would normally expect him to be late on. In fact, his hands are so quick that he often struggles more with lesser pitchers who he has trouble waiting on. Lassiter has juice in his bat and shows pull power but can drive the ball hard to LCF as well. It will be interesting to see how Lassiter's approach works with his undeniable hitting tools as he moves to higher levels and some hitting coaches get involved. Physically, Lassiter can be a top level player and he has the instincts as well. Lassiter is a good student who has a verbal commitment to North Carolina. Selected to 2007 Aflac All-American team.
