Stephen Traumann is a 2007 RHP/OF with a 6'4'', 225 lb. frame from Forestville CA, who attends El Molino HS. Selected as a Top Prospect at this event. Traumann has a physical, thick, power pitcher body. He certainly looks as though he can handle the workload that comes with being a starter at the college level and beyond. He pitches from a high 3/4 slot, with a short, powerful arm stroke. The ball comes out of Traumann's hand pretty easily and as he learns to incorporate more of his lower body and core into his delivery, he will throw even harder. His fastball has good down angle and at time heavy sink, topping at 88 mph and sitting in the 86-87 range. He can pitch with his fastball alone for long stretches. Traumann showed some feel for the change-up and flashed a baby slider that possibly was a cutter. His stuff has a chance to develop into bat breaking stuff. A power sinker/slider pitcher is what a coach/scout can easily envision with him. Traumann pitches to contact and attacks the zone. There are a lot of pitching coaches looking for big, physical pitchers with power bodies and good arms. Traumann is one of them and his stuff is good.
