Shane Hill is a 2006 right handed pitcher from Miami Springs, FL with a tall slender build at 6-4, 190 lbs. Hill has square shoulders and is just beginning to develop his physical strength. Pro scouts will consider him very projectable and expect him to improve in a few years as he gets stronger. Hill throws with a very long and loose arm action from a full windup and varies his release point between mid 3/4's and high 3/4's. He gets very good running action on his fastball at 86 mph. In fact, at this outing he had trouble controlling his movement and was missing consistently inside to right handed hitters. Hill's curveball showed solid biting action in the 66-68 mph range. We didn't see a change up. Hill is an excellent student who has committed to the University of Tennessee. Look for him to really come on after a few years in the SEC.

Hill is a 6-4 junior right handed pitcher from Florida. He has the type of lean, projectable body with long arms and legs that the pro scouts look for in a young pitcher. Hill has a deliberate delivery and a long, smooth arm action from a mid 3/4's release point. His fastball was mostly 85-86 mph and had some life to it down in the zone, although Hill tended to pitch in the middle of the plate this outing. Hill's curveball was 67-70 mph and had very good depth and a sharp break when he got over it. Hill is somewhat raw now but he has a very big upside with his projection and present stuff. He also showed some hitting potential Hill is also a very good student.

Charles Hill -- Hill is a very young sophomore right handed pitcher who could just as easily be a freshman by his birth date. He has long slender features and looks like he still has plenty of growing to do from his current 6-2, 175 lb. frame. Hill throws from an easy, smooth on-line delivery and a standard ¾’s release point. Hill also took infield at shortstop and showed the same type of easy actions and throwing motion. Hill’s fastball topped out at 80 mph during his 4 innings of work and he threw lots of strikes with it. As Hill gets stronger and learns more about pitching he’ll get more of his lower half and backside into his delivery and that will help his velocity right away. Hill also threw a 61 mph curveball that needs some tightening and a 66 mph change up. He showed hitting ability also. Charles is a very strong student. Definitely an "06" to watch.
