Charlie Culberson is a 2007 MIF from Calhoun High School in Rome, Georgia, with a 5'11'', 170 lb. frame. Culberson can really pick it on defense. He has very nice footwork with soft hands and great actions in the middle of the diamond. He flows through the ball well and has a quick release and a strong arm across the diamond. His throws are accurate and he has the ability to make the play in the hole. Offensively he is a right handed hitter with a compact swing and a quick bat. Culberson has very good hands with very little wasted action in his swing. He is an aggressive hitter who looks to drive the ball where it is pitched. He has a very mature approach to hitting and the power will come. Culberson is a top prospect in the 2007 class who can get the job done both offensively and defensively. He is a must follow, and is a very good student as well.

Culberson is a 5-8 sophomore middle infielder from Georgia with a wiry strong, quick body. He was one of the defensive stars of the Showcase with his overall play at shortstop. One of our scouts noted “"made at least 4 plays up the middle to take away hits". All of Culberson’s defensive skills, from arm strength to hands and footwork looked advanced to us and he, of course, made the plays in games as well. Offensively, Culberson has a very mature approach. He has a nice load and a short, compact swing that has surprising power at contact. He can drive the ball a bit for a young 150 pound kid. Culberson is also a very selective hitter who showed the ability to hold off swinging on breaking balls out of the strike zone. Culberson also threw some in relief, showing a 78-81 mph fastball and a very nice 66-67 mph curveball that had real nice depth to it. He’s probably a very effective high school pitcher. Overall, this is a nice young prospect who is developing all the tools and skills to be a solid college level player. Culberson is also a strong student.
