As a Junior right-hander, Charvat both pitches and catches. He is primarily a pitcher and we like his chances at making an impact at the next level on the mound. His body is a very good one at 6 foot 1 and 170 pounds with a young look and projectable frame. He shows a very easy delivery with a smooth and loose arm action from a 3/4 arm slot. He showed a slight pause in his arm action at knee lift. From a tall posture he falls out of balance using momentum to generate his forward motion. His arm works well but we think he could benefit from finishing stronger. His arm is fast and his fastball velocity was between 82-84 mph. He showed his best control with that pitch and it came out of his hand quick and easy. His curveball was clocked between 67-69 mph and has potential showing good spin. He did not get on top of his curveball consistently but didn't use it enough to establish a rhythm with it. His third pitch was a change-up at 65 mph. He is getting a feel for that pitch and with his raw talent and easy working arm we think there is a good future in store. College coaches need to follow him because he might be even stronger and better by the time the summer arrives. He only needs to smooth out his mechanics and repeat his delivery more consistently.
