Chris Chapman is a 2005 left handed pitcher from Chesapeake, Virginia. Chris has fast twitch muscle tone in a 5'9", 162 lb. athletic body, and the physical look of a young Mike Hampton. On the mound Chris has a very quick arm with an extended 3/4 arm slot. He has good balance in his delivery with late show of the ball to the batter. Chris showed an 83-85 mph fastball, 71-74 mph curveball, 76-77 change up, and a 76 mph slider. His curveball has plus/plus potential with hard, tight spinning downward action. He shows very good life on all of his pitches with very good sinking action on his fastball. Chapman works both sides of the plate with good command. He will try to overthrow at times, and his command does suffer when he does. Look for his velocity to continue to increase as he continues to mature. At the plate Chris is a left handed hitter with quick actions. He uses an open to closed approach, and closes off well while showing very good bat speed and good balance in his swing. He has strong hands and has the potential to hit for power down the line. In the OF Chris showed solid arm strength with consistent 85 mph velocity, and very good long carry on throws. He's an exciting player to watch with big time potential at the plate, in the outfield, and on the mound. Chapman is a two way player for many programs. His size might keep pro scouts a little cool to him, but top level colleges should see him.

Chris is an exciting LHP. He generates very good torque out of his 5'9-165 athletic body. A 7.4 runner ,he has a "Mike Hampton" shape with a live arm. He showed a 85fb, 80 cutter, 74 cb, and 73 change-up. We have seen Chris as high as 88 and with his fast twitch body and very good arm speed could project 90's in the near future. He will generate a lot of interest from college coaches. With 4 pitches he needs to continue to work on his command which at times is outstanding and other times is sketchy. With consistent command and his stuff, he will be a force at the next level. Chris also worked out in the OF showing 87(of) velocity and very athletic actions. At the plate he shows some lift in his swing with college power and very good bat speed. He can rip. He shows very good bat speed and fast twitch muscle. He can turn on the inside ball with wood. At the highest level he will probably be a one way pitcher, however at many schools he will be a two way impact player.

Chris is a young, hard bodied 5-9/160 lb. "junior" southpaw from Chesapeake, Virgina. He has a a live arm with good strength. He is a "Mike Hampton" type pitcher who is not big in body, but strong on the mound. His pitching delivery is clean and polished with a nice linear path to home plate. He shows above average arm speed that is advanced for his age. His fastball is 87mph with a nice late tailing action. He throw his breaking ball at 75mph with nice depth that should tighten up and become even better. His change is above average now with nice projection at 71mph. He hits from the left side and is a line drive machine with good ability to put the ball in play in all situation. He has a quick bat with some loft in his swing. He shows the ability to hit to all fields, while being pull concious. This one is a top college two way guy. For sure he is a highest level college lefty! Chris needs to work on his academics a little to increase his options..
