Steven Bayko is a 2007 C/3B/1B with a 6'2'', 210 lb. frame from Clinton KY, who attends Hickman County HS. He has a thick, mature frame with very good present strength. He is a very good game receiver with soft hands and good blocking skills. His lower half flexiblity is good for an athlete his size. Bayko's best pop time in drills was a 1.98 with 73 mph arm strength. He has a waggle in his arm stroke that slows down his release times at present. Offenisvely, Bayko is a switch-hitter with very similar approaches from both sides of the plate. He hits from a calm, open approach and generates good bat speed with some lift in his swing at contact. It's a low maintencence, consistent type of swing that should enable Bayko to be a consistent producer/hitter at the next level. Bayko is a good student who has signed with Murray State.

Steven Bayko is a 2007 switch-hitting catcher/third baseman from Hickman County HS, residing in Clinton, KY. He has a broad upper body and overall a very strong, mature, physical build on his 6'2" 220 lb. frame. Bayko showed very well during PG National and was ranked #64 among PG National Top 100 position players. He is a switch-hitter and from the left side he can flat out swing the tube. His bat head skills are strong and his swing is quite free and easy, producing good present day power that should continue to play as he moves on. Bayko certainly showed the ability to handle good velocity, something that was rare at PG National. Not only does he have good bat speed , he has timing and bat control from the left side. From the right side he hit from a spread out stance and showed a nice ability to drive the ball to the opposite field. His bat was flat and long through the zone. From the right side he was more of a line drive, gap power guy. Behind the plate Bayko was a decent receiver. He has a good transfer of the ball from glove to hand and flasehd near average throwing skills. He ran 7.70 in the 60. Bayko can hit, particularly so from the left side and at this time it looks like his bat will carry him at the catcher position, meaning he will receive strong draft consideration.
