Benjamin Koenigsfeld is a 2007 2B/3B/P/OF with a 6'2'', 190 lb. frame from New Port Richey FL, who attends Ridgewood HS. He has a tall, strong build with good athletic strength. Koenigsfeld lists himself as a primary second baseman but it would be an unusual team that would have him at second base. His whole defensive profile says third base or at least left side of the infield. Koenigsfeld has long, gliding actions defensively, with soft hands and a long release. His best defensive tool is his throwing arm, which is very strong. Koenigsfeld's hitting mechanics are on the raw side but he has solid bat speed and does an especially good job of staying short to the ball and balanced at contact. The ball jumps hard off his bat on contact and it's easy to project him with power down the road because of his bat speed and swing leverage. Overall, Koenigsfeld looks like a plus athlete who is just beginning to find his niche in baseball. He could be a really nice sleeper down the road as his skills further develop. Koenigsfeld is an outstanding student, too.
