Casey Upperman is a 2009 RHP/OF with a 6'0'', 170 lb. frame from Phoenix, AZ who attends Notre Dame Prep. Upperman is a lean 6 footer but he has a very fast arm and he pitches in the low 90's topping at 92mph at the Metrodome. His fastball has some life and he also mixes in a curveball and change. His curve has an 11/5 break with some bite and he throws it for strikes. He has balance in his delivery and a very live arm. He not be real big but he has good stuff, a quick arm and a feel for pitching. He is also a good student.

Casey Upperman is a 2009 RHP/OF with a 6'0'', 165 lb. frame from Phoenix, AZ who attends Notre Dame Prep. He has a lean, agile, lively body type. Though he is not big, he is projectable to a certain degree. Upperman was worthy of a spot in the top prospects list if it was expanded just a bit more. He is a really good college prospect and someday maybe beyond that. He has a quick arm that works easily with a long arm action and an over the top slot. Upperman gets to good frontside extension that adds life to his stuff. With his arm speed it is easy to say that his velocity will contine to improve as he gets stronger. In this event Upperman sat in mid-80s and touched up to 87 mph. We actually saw him touch 89 at the Junior Olympics. He has a good overhand curveball (70 mph) that at times flashed bite that can make it a potential 'out pitch'. He also showed a changeup. Upperman's fastball and curveball are two solid D1 offerings and should get him plenty of attention from colleges next summer and fall. He pitches with an aggressive approach and has confidence.

Casey Upperman is a 2009 RHP/OF with a 6'1'', 165 lb. frame from Phoenix, AZ, who attends Notre Dame Prep HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team. Upperman has a wiry frame that is projectable. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with sound mechanics and a good delivery. Upperman has a quick and live arm that produces an 88 mph fastball with good life. He changes speeds with his fastball throwing from 81-88 mph. Also throws a tight curveball for strikes, and he has a good feel for his changeup. The feel for his secondary pitches and his ability to throw strikes give him upside on the mound. Defensively he moves well in the outfield showing reactions off the bat. He gets online carry to his throws with good accuracy. At the plate he is a right handed contact hitter with bat speed through the zone. He is an aggressive hitter who stays balanced at the plate. Upperman is a two-way prospect, and a good student as well.
