Nick Benvenuto is a 2008 OF with a 5'8'', 150 lb. frame from Yorba Linda CA, who attends Esperanza HS. Selected as a Top Prospect at this event. Benvenuto has a compact body with athletic proportions. He is a good athlete and should develop more explosiveness as he gains strength. His abilities at the plate and in the field are quite strong. Benvenuto is a very good hitter. He has a quick bat and an easy swing, taking a short, direct route to the ball. He sprays line drives to all fields and always seemed comfortable and in control of each at-bat, including when facing LHPs. In the outfield he went after and closed on the ball very well, getting to balls along the line that usually fall in for hits. Benvenuto gets good jumps on the ball and takes excellent routes. He is a quality thrower, with an accurate, strong, and still developing arm. He is quality student and a talented, polished young player. He also plays for one of the top programs in Southern CA.
