Robert Refsnyder is a 2009 2B/OF with a 6'0'', 185 lb. frame from Laguna Hills, CA, who attends Laguna Hills HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team. Refsnyder has a lean and athletic frame with lively actions. Defensively he has good arm strength at 85 mph, and his throws are very accurate. Refsnyder has nice footwork in the middle of the diamond moving very well allowing him to make all the plays. He also has very soft and sure hands. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a slightly closed stance and turns his heal to the pitcher like Jim Edmunds. Refsnyder uses a simple swing with a line drive swing plane to make consistent contact. He stays balanced throughout his swing, and he keeps his hands inside the ball. Refsnyder tracks pitches well and keeps his hands back that allows him to stay on the breaking ball well. He shows projectable power, and he hit a home run in game action. He plays hard, and he is a good student as well.

Robert Refsnyder is a 2009 right hand hitting infielder/outfielder from Laguna Hills HS, residing in Laguna Hills, CA. He has a 5'11" 165 lb. frame and an athletic, wiry strong body, with a long torso. Refsnyder was one of only a few '09 prospects at this event and he handled the competition well. His ability with the bat stood out most at this point, a good sign for his future. Offensively he displayed a quiet approach, a short swing and good bat speed. He stays in the middle of the field and showed the ability to spray line drives to all fields. His hands work and he understands how to stay inside the ball. Refsnyder made plenty of barrel contact and showed some gap power that should continue to develop in the coming years. Defensively he has a long arm stroke and the ball exited his hands well. His good hands and that arm stroke work best at 3rd base right now, but it is probably too early to peg a position for him. His arm is strong (82 mph in the infield) and will get stronger. His hitting ability and defensive skill set suggest that he has a chance to develop into a D1 caliber 3rd baseman. There are some tools present that are going to keep getting better.
