Chris Kay is a 2007 C/1B with a 6'1'', 200 lb. frame from Marietta GA, who attends Walton. Chris has an athletic body with a thick strong build. Chris is fundamentally sound behind the plate and works hard at blocking pitches. Chris has good arm strength with good carry on the ball with quick transfers. He stays low and compact and is a good receiver. Chris starts with a wide stance at plate with low hands. Chris is busy in the box pre-swing and really attacks the baseball. He has present gap to gap power with more power potential. Chris has bat speed (94 mph off bat in game) and has quick hands. Chris is a very good low ball hitter and centers the ball well. Chris is a solid prospect and is a very good student.

Chris Kay is a 2007 catcher from Marietta, Georgia, who was the youngest player at the event. He has a very solid body at 6'0", 195 lb. for his age, but has room to add even more strength in the future. Kay uses his strength well on offense. He hits from an open stance and never really closes off his hips or shoulders, which might be costing even more power. Kay has a good rhythmic hand load and generates some very good bat speed through the zone with some loft in his swing. He made good solid contact in batting practice and against live pitching. Kay’s feet worked well behind the plate, and he was very consistent in his technique and throw times. He has a recoil in his throwing motion that’s costing him some arm strength right now, but he still gets the ball to bases quickly, especially for his age. Kay is a good young catcher to keep a close eye on for down the road. Chris is a strong student too.
