2007 Atlantic Coast Top Showcase
Dylan Kipp is a 2008 LHP/OF/1B with a 6'3'', 170 lb. frame from Cary, NC who attends Green Hope HS. He has a well framed athletic build that is lacking present strength. Kipp has smooth athletic actions in all areas but lacks the speed/quickness in his actions that comes from strength. On the mound, Kipp threw 80-82 mph mostly with a high of 84 mph. His arm stroke is smooth and easy and the ball comes out of his hand easily. He threw from the top down with limited lower half involvement in his delivery, which limites his velocity potential. Kipp's curveball was deep and sharp and could be a quality pitch in the future. He threw to spots with his fastball and curveball and has a good idea how to pitch. Kipp was one of the top graded outfielders at the showcase, with smooth easy actions and promising arm strength. His swing showed similar promise. Kipp is a good follow in all regards and watch him carefully for strength gains. He is also a good student.
