Valeriote is a 2005 C/OF from Guelph, ON, Can with a good 6'0"/195 pound body. He's got tremendous quickness in his feet and he has above average blocking skills. He topped out at 73 mph from behind the plate with a 1.97 pop time. He handles the pitchers well and receives the ball with soft hands. He has a good feel for the position and he shows great leadership. He showed good raw power from a controlled, relaxed stance with good weight transfer. He has excellent bat speed and control and makes solid contact consistently. He had 2 triples during the games off the center and left-center field walls. An excellent def. catcher who can hit. Chris is a very good student.

Chris Valeriote: Valeriote is a junior catcher from Ontario, Canada with some very good skills. He has good strength throughout his body and obviously works hard on his conditioning. Valeriote is a very advanced defensive catcher. He receives the ball comfortably and smoothly and has quick actions in his lower half. Valeriote’s arm strength is very good and the most impressive thing was that he was making legit game throws while we were measuring pop velocities, not winding up and gunning. We’d bet he’s a solid 1.85-1.95 guy down to second base outdoors. Valeriote hits from a good base with a short, contact oriented line drive swing. He has the strength to swing wood very well and does a good job of staying within himself. This kid has some toughness about him and there’s no question that he has the ability to be a very good Division I catcher in the future. Over the next year Chris may surface as a top level draft pick.
