Matt Houser is a 2008 OF/P with a 6'0'', 165 lb. frame from Marietta, GA who attends Alan Pope HS. Medium build, some present strength. Good run and throw tools, solid defender. Big hand hitch to start swing, shows late hand/bat speed but must refine approach, adjust timing. Also pitched, FB topped at 83, simple balanced delivery. He strained his back during OF drill and continued to do the showcase. We will look forward to see him in the future when he is back healthy. Good student.

Matt Houser is a 2008 OF with a 5'11", 165 lb frame from Marietta, GA who attends Pope HS. Matt has a lean athletic build and showed very good all-around athletic ability. At the plate Matt has some raw hitting tools with an aggressive approach and a short line-drive swing plane. Matt has a lot of holes in his hitting mechanics as he tends to over rotate through most pitches. He was fighting off some BP pitches, but with work there is plenty to work with. In the outfield Matt has a strong arm to go along with good speed. He will need to improve his footwork and approach to the ball. Matt is a strong student that should attract the attention of many mid-level college programs.
