Nick McBride is a 2009 RHP/OF with a 6'3'', 170 lb. frame from Lewisville, NC who attends Ragsdale HS. He has a well proportioned athletic build with good projection. McBride is a very good athlete whose baseball skills are still raw on both sides of the ball, but he is a potential top 2-way prospect. On the mound, McBride has a long, loose arm action with a closed delivery and some effort on release. His fastball was up to 87 mph from a high 3/4's release and he showed better life and command of his fastball from the stretch when he shortened his stride and stayed more balanced. All of McBride's off speed pitches are a work in progress; he breaks down his arm and body speed and doesn't have a feel for the ball right now. His change had some deception but he wrapped it in back and his slider had some bite a couple of times. McBride is a 6.82 runner with big outfield arm strength as a position player. His speed makes up for some inconsistent routes right now. At the plate, McBride has good raw bat speed and made solid pull line drive contact. All the tools are there for McBride to develop either way, he just needs to work on refining them. He is a very good student. McBride was named to the Showcase Top Prospect Team.
