Cody Basler is a 2006 RHP/OF/C from Rancho Cucamonga, CA, with a 6'1", 168 lb. frame. Basler is a strong player with two-way potential. It is our understanding that Basler has not logged many innings on the mound, but he shows very good potential. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with good arm speed. Basler sometimes rushes through his balance point, but that will come with more experience and coaching. His fastball topped out at 80 mph with good movement in on the hands of right handed hitters. Basler also mixed in a good late breaking slider, and showed a feel for his change up with very good late sink. Defensively he has good arm strength with on-line throws and good accuracy, and shows good actions tracking fly balls. At the plate he hits right handed from an upright stance with a short stride. Basler shows good bat speed with a line drive swing plane. He is also an outstanding student.
