Alan Oaks is a 2006 OF/P from Divine Child HS in White Lake, MI, with a 6'3'', 225 lb. frame. He is extra strong, with a thick, well proportioned build. Oaks is a big time two-way prospect as an outfielder and right handed pitcher. Despite his size and strength, Oaks is a good runner at 7.31 in the 60 and has easy actions in the outfield. He showed top level professional arm strength, throwing 93 mph during outfield drills and runners are definitely going to hesitate when he has the ball in right field. Offensively, Oaks has a gliding approach to the ball with excellent bat speed and light tower type raw power. The ball explodes off his bat with authority and he can swing the wood. On the mound, Oaks topped out at 88 mph with a low effort drop and drive delivery and a long arm action. He has an easy 90 mph arm if he was pitching full-time. Oaks hard curveball and change up had good quality, too. Oaks is a national level prospect with lots of professional level tools. He is also a good student.

Alan Oaks is a 2006 outfielder/right handed pitcher from White Lake, MI with a thick strong build at 6-3, 225 lbs. He's a very agile and quick athlete for such a big, strong athlete and runs the 60 in 7.00. Oaks profiles as a right fielder with a very strong throwing arm from a low 3/4's release point. He might gain even more power in his arm with a higher release. Oaks has very busy hands in his set up at the plate and a right centerfield approach. He has easy plus, plus power in his swing and can hit the ball a long way. He takes an aggressive swing and gets very good leverage at contact. Polished pitchers can work on Oaks now but he's going to jump all over mistakes and drive them a long way, especially if he can get his hands extended. Oaks is also a top prospect as a right handed pitcher. He throws from a similar mid 3/4's release point with a short, quick arm action. Oaks fastball topped out at 89 mph with some running action and he worked both sides of the plate well. His best pitch was a 76 mph slider that was very tough on right handed hitters at times. Oaks led off a couple of hitters with a soft 65 mph "get me over" curveball that kept hitters off balance and also threw a few sinking 74 mph change ups. Oaks is one of the top 2-way prospects in the country and could develop either way depending on how he develops in college. He's a very good student.

Alan Oaks is a 2006 RHP/OF from White Lake, Michigan, with a thick, strong build at 6'3", 230 pounds. He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a full wind-up. He shows excellent arm actions with a fast smooth arm, and has a strong, balanced lower body. His fastball topped out at 81 mph, but he definitely has more velocity potential. He throws a hard slurve at 71-72 mph with good movement. At the plate he hits from a balanced, wide stance. He has a good swing plane, with a nice high finish. He has great overall strength and lots of bat speed that produces excellent power, and hit a monster bomb during batting practice. He showed great hustle, and he runs well for his size with a 7.31 in the 60. He also has a strong arm across the infield (83 mph) with good accuracy, and lots of carry. Alan has plus tools right now, and will only get better as he matures. Oaks is definitely a draft prospect for 2006.

Alan Oaks -- Oaks is a sophomore right hander from Michigan with a large frame and thick features throughout. He doesn’t appear extra strong right now but could definitely be so in the future with some hard work. Oaks flashed us some arm strength for a youngster, touching 82 mph on his fastball from a standard ¾’s release point. Once he settled down, Oaks threw quality strikes with his fastball and stayed ahead of hitters. His best secondary pitch was a 72 mph change up that had nice fade and deception to it. Oaks curveball was 69 mph with a loose, early break to it. Alan is a good student.

At 6 foot 1 and 205 pounds, Oaks has advanced physical dimensions for his age. He still has the young face and projectability of a Freshman. However, he shows the pitching ability of an upper classman. His mechanics are good and his arm works very well. His entire delivery is low effort and he showed low 80's fastball velocity with good life on several of them. His arm got moving out front and he showed a good release point with a beautiful finish. He threw slightly across his body and if he got his chest out over his knee more he could add even more velocity. His curveball showed 65-68 mph velocity and he commanded the strikezone with it. It is a good pitch now and will only get better. His change-up worked well and that too will become better as he gets a feel for it. The change-up sat between 69-70 mph. All 3 pitches worked well and all 3 will get better as he gets stronger. His good body and the ease at which his arm works are two aspects that make him one of the most interesting freshman pitchers we have seen. He even showed good bat-speed and crushed one ball off live pitching. But his ability on the mound will draw the majority of attention to him as a pitcher. He projects easily to gain the arm-speed and velocity that will make him an attractive prospect for 2006. He needs to be followed closely for the next 3 years !
