Michael Appio is a 2008 2B/OF/ P with a 5'11'', 170 lb. frame from Sunnyvale CA, who attends Fremont HS. Michael has a lean athletic build and showed off very good speed at the showcase. At the plate Michael has an open quiet approach and shows his best contact to the middle of the field. He is a good contact hitter that can hit the ball to any part of the field, but needs to make sure he doesn't get too long in his swing. In the outfield Michael has a quiet athletic approach and could probably stay in centerfield. His arm strength is solid and he can run very well. On the mound Michael has a short arm action with an online delivery and some nice cut action. He shows a big 11 to 5 curveball, but his potential appears to be in the outfield. Michael is a good student that should attract the attention of many mid to high-level college programs. He moved to 2B full time his junior year and now brings a good level of versatility to the game.

Michael Appio is a 2008 IF/OF/P with a 5'11'', 170 lb. frame from Sunnyvale CA, who attends Fremont HS. He has a lean, athletic build on a medium, average frame. Appio played primarily in the outfield in this event but he was moving to the MIF for his junior year. In any case, he is a competitive ballplayer that should do well in college baseball someday. He is a leadoff or two-hole type of offensive player. He makes consistent line drive contact and sprays the ball around. From pitch to pitch and at-bat to at-bat he is competitive. Pest or pesky would be a positive description. He runs the bases well and can leg out some infield hits. Defensively he projects as a left fielder, possibly centerfielder for some college teams, but again, he has moved to the infield, likely for the remainder of his high school career. He did show good defensive fundamentals, moving aggressively to the ball and getting some carry on throws. He is a good student and solid ballplayer.
