D.J. Jones is a 2007 OF with a 6'1'', 190 lb. frame from Gulf Shores, AL, who attends Gulf Shores HS. Jones was outstanding at this event. He had the fastest sixty time (6.33) and he ran it a second time and also was in the 6.3s. He has a good frame with rounded shoulders and athleticism. Defensively he is an advanced defender with easy actions and moves to the ball well. He has arm strength with a clean arm action, and his throws are very accurate. At the plate he has a smooth left handed swing with good balance and outstanding bat speed through the zone. Jones has quiet hands with the ability to hit to all fields. His hands work well, and he will hit for power in the future. Once on the bases he shows his speed and instincts. His tools match up with nearly anyone in the country. Great upside and top talent.
