Hartpence’s best tool in our opinion is his bat and offensive potential. He has good bat speed and some pop to the alleys with wood in his hands. Hartpence takes a full hack and has the hand strength to get on top of the ball and top spin it through the infield. Defensively, Hartpence may not have the hands and arm strength to play third base at the top college level and if his bat plays the way it should, he may end up at a corner outfield position. He can play! Dan is an excellent student.
