Loose arm, easy low effort delivery, FB 84-87 mph with lots more there, can spin a CB. Exceptional arm strength catching, quick actions. Swings the bat, shows pop/bat speed, squares up well, has a feel for hitting. Could blossom in all areas! Excellent student.

Benjamin McKinney is a 2009 C/P/3B with a 6'0'', 165 lb. frame from Johnson City, TN, who attends Science Hill HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team at the event. McKinney is a young player with a good, lean build and is very projectable. Behind the plate he showed very good arm strength, especially for his age. He has good arm speed on his throws and he will throw guys out slowing down an opposition's running game. He also popped very good times consistently under 2.00. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a straight away stance. McKinney shows solid bat speed through the hitting and attacks the ball. He gets leverage in his swing at the point of contact producing projectable power. He throws the bat head well, and stays balanced through his swing. On the mound he has good arm speed and a loose arm. His fastball topped out at 88 mph, and his velocity will continue to improve. McKinney has solid control of both his pitches. He also mixed in a 71 mph curveball with a 10/4 break. He is a two-way prospect with upside to his game. He is a very good student as well..
