Alex Belew is a 2009 LHP/OF with a 6'2'', 190 lb. frame from O'Fallon, MO who attends Ft. Zumwalt West HS. Nice athletic build, good strength. Easy delivery, good tempo, smooth arm circle, high 3/4's release, throws downhill. FB to 83 mph with occ run/sink, throws mostly FB's, occ soft slider with short break. Good hitter, has bat speed, showed power, need to see swing bat more. Good student.

Alex Belew is a 2009 LHP with a 6'2'', 185 lb. frame from O'Fallon MO, who attends Ft. Zumwalt West HS. He has a nice frame for a sophomore with some present strength and plenty of potential for more. Belew has a very polished and smooth delivery for a pitcher of any age. He has excellent balance throughout and good direction to the plate. Well meaning future pitching coaches should be very hesitant to make many adjustments to his base mechanics. Belew not surprisingly does a nice job pitching to spots with his pitches and showing command potential. His fastball was up to 83 mph and was mostly straight. He wasn't afraid to throw inside to right handed hitters with his fastball. Belew's best pitch was his change up at 71 mph, it had nice sink and very good deception. His 66 mph curveball flashed good spin at times but he was inconsistent in his release. Belew is a promising looking young lefty who could be a good one in a few years with normal development. He is a good student off the field.

Alex Belew is a 2009 LHP from Ft Zumwalt West HS, residing in O'Fallon, Missouri, with a strong 6'1"/180 pound frame. Alex pitches from an overhand arm slot and his arm works well with a downward plane to the plate. He has very good mechanics and an effortless delivery. His fastball has good run at 85 mph and he has a short and tight breaking curveball at 65 mph. Belew has very good upside and is a definite 2009 prospect. Alex is a good student.
