Dave Norkus is a 2006 LHP/1B from Oak Forest, Illinois, with a strong body and wide shoulders at 5'11", 165 pounds. He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot, with a very fluid motion, and his arm action is very easy and smooth. His fastball (76-78 mph) showed life, and he has a 12-6 biting curveball (63-66 mph) as well. He also throws a hard change-up with good sink, and has good command of all 3 pitches and changes speeds well. He hits from a closed stance and has good balance during the swing. His hands are quick to the ball, with good bat speed, but he does cut his finish off at times. He made solid contact both in the BP, and during the games, and showed solid gap to gap power. He has a good approach to hitting and has a nice frame, with lots of room to get stronger. Dave will definitely be a high level college prospect.
