Yovan Gonzalez is a Col C with a 5'11'', 190 lb. frame from Cidra, PR. Gonzalez is a good defensive catcher with a strong arm and makes accurate throws. He made solid contact in the games at the plate. He just finished up a very good season at Wabash Valley.

Yovan Gonzalez is a 2007 C/3B with a 5'11'', 185 lb. frame from Cidra PR, who attends PR BB Academy HS. He has a stocky, strong athletic look to him. Gonzalez threw 1.92 during catching drills with upper level raw arm strength. His release is long right now but if he was able to shorten it up he could be putting up some very impressive pop times. Gonzalez's overall catching skills are solid, he has quick reactions and good overall body life and an aggressive catcher's mentality. Offensively, Gonzalez hits out of a spread, crouched stance and has a simple, low effort swing. He stays balanced and makes line drive contact to all fields without trying to do too much with the ball. He adjusted well to off speed pitches and looks like a high average/low power type of hitter. Gonzalez is a good student.
