Matthew Patricio is a 2016 LHP/1B, OF with a 5-10 190 lb. frame from Davie, FL who attends Western. Medium-large frame, good build throughout body, very strong lower half. Primary pitcher, throws from three-quarters slot with excellent life on FB that worked 79-83, topping at 83 MPH. Shorter arm action with good arm speed, up tempo delivery with hip coil load. Pitches up in zone with all pitches, but threw strikes consistently. Changeup was best secondary pitch, mimics the FB well and thrown with deceptive arm speed, featuring some fade as well. Showed a slower CB at 60 MPH, good depth on pitch. Also flashed a slider working in the low 70's, showed good tilt at times. Hits from both sides, sets up with wide base and is very short to the ball with quick hands. Mostly an upper body swing, but shows good power to pull field from both sides of the plate. Better showing from left side. Looked comfortable around the bag and with the turn at 1B; fields cleanly in OF and has strong arm, topping at 80 MPH. Good student.
