Nolan Ryan is a 2009 2B/RHP that attends Ridgeland HS and resides in Madison, MS with a 5'11", 165 lb. frame. Nolan has a lean athletic build with some room to fil out. At the plate Nolan has a wide balanced approach with a line-drive swing plane. Right now his swing is a little long which can take away from his bat speed. As he gets stronger and works on keeping his hands inside the ball more he should see alot of improvement at the plate. In the field Nolan shows very solid fundamentals. He has good footwork to go along with a quick release and nice hands. Second base is his best option right now, but as his arm gets stronger he could possibly play some third base. On the mound Nolan throws with a long arm action with nice run and sink. Nolan is around the plate with his pitches and will need to work on developing his off-speed pitches. Mechanically Nolan will need to work on getting his body centered up with the plate in his delivery. Nolan is a player that could attract the attention of some smaller colleges.
