2004 South Top Prospect Showcase
Dylan Graves is a 2005 MIF from Austin, TX. Graves is a live bodied middle infielder who looks like a very good defensive player. In addition to his defensive tools, Graves really enjoys playing and is very aggressive and active. Graves' feet are very quick and his hand actions are smooth. He has more arm strength than he’s showing now because he has very little back side involvement on his throws. It’s more like a second baseman’s flip throw, even from shortstop, but he might have enough arm strength to play short at the next level. At the plate, Graves is a contact style line drive hitter more than someone who drives the ball deep with wood. He had a good at bat against one of the top pitching prospects at the showcase and seemed to have a good idea of how to hit top level pitching. He runs well and has very good instincts. Dylan is a good student.
