Christopher Vera is a 2008 1B/OF with a 5'11'', 210 lb. frame from Miramar FL, who attends Pines Charter HS. He has a thick, strong build and will have to watch his conditioning. Vera has solid bat speed from a simple, no load approach. He has some lift in his swing and showed good gap to gap power both in BP and in games. Vera is an aggressive hitter who is looking to drive the ball hard. His swing can get long at times but he did a good job staying short in games, with good results. He should keep hitting as the pitching gets better. Defensively, Vera showed good arm strength from the outfield, although mobility at that position might become an issue in the future. Vera is also an excellent student.
