Samson Manu-Olevao is a 2008 RHP/OF/1B with a 6'3'', 180 lb. frame from Hilo HI, who attends Kahuku HS. He has a long, broad, strong body that certainly is attractive for a young pitcher, though Manu-Olevao actually looked more advanced as a hitter. He is still raw with the bat but he does swing aggressively and has power in the middle of the field. Manu-Olevao seems to find the barrel quite consistently. He has strong hands and is able to get his arms extended. On the mound Manu-Olevao has a short arm action and is able to hide the ball a bit, making his mid-upper 80s fastball seem better. At times he cut the fastball and other times he was able to ride it. The inconsistency comes from an inconsistent release point and not very much hand control at release. The more refined his delivery gets, the better Manu-Olevao will be on the mound. His curveball has some depth and it got better as his outing went along. Manu-Olevao is raw, but interesting in some respects.
