2007 Hawaii Showcase Tournament
Sean Wardour is a 2009 RHP/1B with a 6'4'', 205 lb. frame from Torrance CA, who attends West Torrence HS. He has a powerful build, the type that elicits the "big league body" phrase. With his wide and sloped shoulders, Wardour certainly passes the eye test. He was listed as a primary pitcher, but for whatever reason, he never pitched in the event and only had a few game at-bats. At the plate he is the type of hitter that has certain pitches he can really handle and if he is on-time, can do some damage. He showed patience and good pitch selection and has hands that work well. Around the bag he was very solid defensively and his feet work quite well. Simply as a hitting prospect Wardour could be followed as a potential power bat at 1st base. Hopefully we will get to see him on the mound at some point. There are not too many 2009 graduates that have bodies like that, so we remain intrigued by what he can do on the mound. Just for a small frame of reference, Wardour threw 79 mph across the diamond.
