2007 Pitcher/Catcher Indoor Showcase
Max Vernier is a 2009 RHP/3B with a 5'9'', 170 lb. frame from Livonia MI, who attends Divine Child HS. He has a medium build with a strong lower half and a young face. Vernier has a multi-piece delivery that causes him balance issues and needs to be adjusted. He starts his delivery hunched over like he's going to throw sidearm, then straightens up and throws from a overhand release point over a stiff front side. It's very difficult to develop any consistency with all the variables Vernier goes through. His fastball was 76-77 mph and touched 79 and was mostly stright. His change up showed some deception and life at 72 mph. Vernier's breaking ball was a short slider with a cut fastball type of break at 72 mph. On the other side of the ball, Vernier showed some ability with the bat that could develop. He has solid bat speed for a sophomore and has a short, quick swing. He hits the ball out front and shows some gap to gap power potential. Vernier is also an excellent student.
