Valdes is a 5-10, 180 lb left handed hitting outfielder from Florida with good body life and overall strength. He ran the 60 in 7.24 and threw 78 mph from the outfield with a loose, easy arm action that is projectable. Valdes has excellent hitting fundamentals, with a good coil and load and a quick explosion to the ball. He likes the ball inside and can turn on the ball and hit it with some power. He hit the ball very hard in batting practice and had some nice hits in the showcase games. Valdes is an advanced hitter who profiles well at the college level with the bat. Valdes also threw 3 effective innings, spotting a 74-76 mph fastball on the corners and mixing in a 56 mph curveball and 60 mph change up.
