Reynaldo Cortilla is a 2007 RHP with a 6'4'', 195 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Miami Springs HS. He has a loose, athletic body with wide shoulders, high hips and projectable strength. He throws from a tall wind up and high 3/4's release point and throws downhill to the plate. Cortilla's arm action is compact and quick. We've heard Cortilla up to 95 this spring; he was 90-91 mph very consistently for two innings. His fastball was pretty straight and he left it up in the zone some. His curveball was had good spin and a big sweeping break but could use more velocity. He threw a couple of change ups but slowed his body on them. Cortilla is raw, he missed his junior year with TJ surgery and is just gaining experience but has a very good arm. Could be a draft sleeper.
