Michael Hoo is a 2009 SS/2B/3B with a 5'11'', 157 lb. frame from Cupertino, CA who attends St. Francis HS. He has an athletic body and is built like a middle infielder. Hoo is a nice looking player with good baseball actions and a solid level of athleticism. His hands are an asset at plate and in the field. Offensively Hoo has a short contact swing and a pretty quick bat. He is a contact hitter with a somewhat inside/out swing that allows him to hit to all fields. There is some aggressiveness in his approach. As he gets stronger look for him to start driving the ball into the gaps for extra bases. Defensively Hoo played very well at 2nd base and looked really comfortable there. He took good angles to the ball and closed on it well, while making accurate throws on the move. Hoo has a solid arm and though he probably could play shortstop, he is an above average 2nd baseman. He is also a good baserunner, getting good jumps and showing some instincts. Hoo is a good all-around college prospect and a good student. He plays at a very competitive high school in a strong conference and is coached by a very good former D1 coach.
