James Stanfield is a 2008 MIF/3B with a 5'10'', 180 lb. frame from Owasso, OK who attends Owasso. James has a thick athletic build. He was smooth on the infield during the workout, showing very clean footwork. He has range to the hole and up the middle of the field. He has soft hands, and has a quick exchange and release. He is an all around defender with smooth actions. His velocity across the infield topped at 82 mph. He hits from a wide stance, and has a nice quiet approach. He shows bat speed, good pop and makes consistent solid barrel contact. He goes out and around the ball at times, and likes to pull the inside pitch. The ball really jumps off of his bat to right field. On the mound he is a four pitch guy from a 3/4 arm slot. He commands the outer half well and has a very smooth and fluid motion. He works down in the zone and gets good sink on his fastball. His fastball topped at 85 mph. He demonstrates a good understanding of how to pitch and simply gets outs. James is also a good student.
