Tanner Bellenfant is a 2010 RHP/OF with a 5'10'', 180 lb. frame from Franklin, TN who attends Independence HS. He has a stocky, strong build and some physical maturity for his age. Bellenfant throws from a slightly cross body delivery with a long 2-piece arm action and a high 3/4's release point. His fastball was consistently 77-78 mph and had some cutting action frequently. Ballenfant threw both a slider at 68 mph and a slow curveball in the upper 50's; the slider looks like a natural pitch off his cutting fastball. We didn't see a change up. Bellenfant plays outfield when not pitching and shows some present hitting skills. He has some strength in his swing and makes solid contact to the middle of the field with some lift in his swing. He should be followed as a hitter as well. Bellenfant is also a good student.
