Tyler Carroll is a 2009 2B/OF with a 5'10'', 150 lb. frame from Clemmons, NC who attends West Forsyth HS. He has a medium build with slender, young features. He ran the 60 in 7.78 and threw 76 mph from the outfield and 73 from the infield. Carroll's best tool is his bat. He hits with good balance and has good rhythm to his front side during his swing. He has a line drive swing plane and some bat speed at the ball. Carroll battled hard during the games and had some quality at bats and should continue to improve with strength. Carroll's issue on defense will be his arm strength and his throwing fundamentals. He fits the second base profile but all his throws from both the infield and outfield were with a low and tight elbow that caused him to push the ball. Better form and extension his throws is a must if he's going to play defense at the next level. Carroll is a good student.
