2003 Western Underclass Showcase
Lambert came to the showcase as a primary pitcher but opened some eyes with the bat when pressed into duty as a hitter. Off the mound Lambert showed an easy, fluid delivery. His fastball was 75-77 mph and he threw a 58-60 mph curveball. Lambert tends to lead with his elbow on his arm stroke and this costs him velocity and the ability to get over and through his breaking ball. At one point, though, Lambert was 5-5 at the plate and was in a line drive zone. He has a nice swing with good bat speed and obviously showed the ability to handle wood. It will be interesting to see how his bat develops in the future as well as his arm on the mound.. Jason is a very good student.
